Kosode with Flowering Plant Design

  • Japan Edo period, 18th century
  • Silk
  • h: 147.5cm w: 124.0cm
  • [70222]

The ground was dyed in sections of purple, green and red, with the flowers and grasses of the four seasons, flowing water motifs and geometrical patterns created in the yuzen-zome (paste-resist) dyeing method. The purple shading seen in cloud-like shapes scattered across the entire kimono adds a vivid touch to this kosode.
