This tray is made of so-called carved red lacquer. Large peonies adorns the middle of the tray. The back of the tray is inscribed in needle carving script " Da ming Yongle nianzhi (Made in the great Ming dynasty, Yongle era) ". This tray was made for use by the Ming imperial court.
