This mizusashi (fresh water container) with its stalwart form is renowned as a major example of the shino type of Mino ware. White glaze was poured over the entire form, and then autumn plant motifs drawn in iron pigment. Near the container’s base, the reddish tinge of fired clay adds a bright touch to the color palette.
