This is one poem from the “Narihira-shū” poetry section that was separated during the Edo period from the Hongan-ji version of the ‘Anthology of Poems by Thirty-Six Poets‘. This section is known as an Ogata-gire or "Ogata fragment" because it was traditionally handed down in the Ogata family, which included the famous artist Ogata Kōrin.
