Tea Container, named Matsuya

  • Fuzhou ware, katatsuki type
  • China Southern Song - Yuan dynasties, 13th-14th centuries
  • h: 7.7cm md: 4.6cm bd: 4.7cm
  • [40091]

This katatsuki shape tea container was handed down in the Nara lacquer ware artist Matsuya family and it has hence come to be known as the Matsuya Katatsuki. This is relatively short for the katatsuki type, but this lower slope adds to the imposingly dignified sensibility of the work.
