Dish with Vine Spray Design

This type of work has long been known as ao-kutani ware and it was thought that such pieces were fired in Kutani village in present-day Ishikawa prefecture. Kiln excavations at Arita, however, have clarified that this type of large dish was fired at Arita during the 1650s.
